I'm most excited to see Flint for myself after reading and seeing a lot about it in the media, and hopefully, to make the residents of Flint feel like their stories matter and that people out there care about them and their situation.

I'm most excited to work with the people of Flint, to help them with the crisis they are experiencing, and to share their stories because their voices deserve to be heard. This water crisis is happening in our home and we know the stats but do we know the stories? I'm eager to learn more about the people of Flint while standing in solidarity with them.

Being able to hopefully make a difference. That's what I'm most excited for. A lot of times when an injustice happened in this country I'd watch on TV and be sad for a little, maybe post something on Facebook but always think that I couldn't do anything about it. Now, I have this opportunity to actually help somebody.

I am looking forward to absorbing the stories and experiences of the people we meet. I have read articles and watched the news, but being present to listen and learn from the people themselves is what it means to grow in understanding and walk with someone on their journey.

There has been a lot of media coverage about Flint, but not a lot about the individual people being affected. I am looking forward to getting to know the faces and stories behind the facts and numbers I hear. It is easy to feel helpless and alone when disasters like these strike, and my hope is to show those being affected by the crisis that they deserve to be cared for and recognized.

I am most excited to view the water crisis through a personal lens and be able to have stories and faces to think of as I continue my work with advocating and standing in solidarity with those struggling. I hope to gain a greater understanding of the struggle people in our own country are facing and learn from their stories and lives as they choose to share them with us.

There are so many incredible stories in Flint that have gone unheard. While we're there, the documentation of the water crisis is important, but the documentation of the people is crucial. They matter. That's why I'm going, that's why I'm excited.
